Description
Upclimb — Studio Edition Demo. This is very definitely a demo.
Upclimb happened almost by accident. The rhythm guitars went down, the bass was pretty much an instinctive first take, and then the solo found its way in. The whole thing loops around on itself and, for whatever reason, it just works.
I just love the way the loop loops. It sounds lovely to me.
I’d like to take it further — possibly vocals, and some development of the arrangement — but without losing the thing that made the demo work in the first place. Sometimes something arrives quickly and the danger is spending months trying to improve away the very thing you liked about it.
Upclimb is part of the malcooo Studio Editions. Its development will happen here on malcooo.com: new versions, experiments and the ongoing Studio Log as the track evolves. A Studio Edition isn’t simply a snapshot of the track as it exists today — it’s an invitation into the process and everything that comes with it as the music develops.
